The Burnet Cook-off & Music Festival is under going a few changes, and we are excited about it. As you might have noticed we did change the name; Burnet BBQ Cook-off & Fiddler’s Festival. The Burnet Ol’ Time Fiddlers Contest (formerly held on the square in June) has joined with us and will take over the main stage all day Saturday with plenty of fiddlers from around the country. In 2009 we are directing our focus to an organization that is a vital part of our community and our children. The Hill Country Children’s Advocacy Center is located in Burnet and provides advocates for abused and victimized children in Burnet, Blanco, Lampasas, Llano, Mason and San Saba Counties. Please go to hccac.org for more info. Thanks to our sponsors and our growing participation we are happy to announce that prize money in the Cook-off will be guaranteed at $5000.00; Fiddlers will share in a $5,000.00 purse, even washer tournament winners will gat a share of $500.00 cash. We will have vendors set up Friday afternoon and all day Saturday. Admission is free to the public all day; a ticket is required for the concert Saturday night featuring David Ball and Jason Boland & The Stragglers. Entry fee for cooks to enter the cook-off is $130.00 for Brisket, Ribs and Chicken; $10.00 for Jackpot Beans and $25.00 for Jackpot Wild Game. There is no registration fee to enter the fiddlers contest. Washer tournament fee is $20.00 per team. Other new additions include free live music and a Jackpot Margarita Challenge held Friday night and is open to anyone and everyone to compete. Please make plans to attend this event the third weekend in May 2009. |
